How to… shop successfully online – to avoid disappointment

Source

Buy from Asos. Seriously, my number one tip for shopping online is to buy from Asos as often as possible. Why? Free delivery. Free returns. Fast service. Fast response time. Friendly twitter account. Accept ALL major credit cards (including my American Express that many don’t seem to) AND Paypal (great for when you’ve been selling on eBay and want to use your spoils to treat yourself!).

In the interests of transparency, I’ll confirm now – at no point have I been paid to write a glowing review of Asos or offered anything in return for this post – this is seriously just how I feel.*

Many great high street brands are now stocked on Asos – like Mango, River Island, Warehouse and Oasis – who do not offer free shipping on their sites, so it pays to check out Asos’s availability before purchasing as you can save yourself up to £5. Plus, if it doesn’t fit properly, you haven’t lost that delivery charge.

Now, onto the serious points of this post.

Source

  1. Order a couple of sizes in the piece you want – do you really only ever go into the changing room with only one size? If so, why bother? You might as well just buy that one size and be done with it.
  2. Of course, if you’re doing this – check the store offers free returns. Most do, but it’s worth checking.
  3. If you’re buying in the sales, check in the store too. Gap in particular seems to reduce things far more in store than they do online.
  4. If they offer free delivery – why not try that piece you’ve been eyeing up? You’ve got nothing to lose!
  5. Check their delivery options. Some stores offer free delivery in store but charge for delivery to your home. In this case, if you can pick it up, you can save yourself a few pounds and always try on and return in store if it turns out you don’t like it/it doesn’t fit – which will save a heap of time too. (I always do this for Marks and Spencer sales – great way to avoid the queues and get what I want!)
  6. Make sure you get the return receipt from the Post Office. With free returns these days, you can go into the post office and they give you a receipt as proof of postage so that if it gets lost, you can still get your refund. Why wouldn’t you?

What are your tips for shopping online?

    Shirt? Check!

This is my preppy look. No doubt about it, when I wore this outfit I felt a little I should have traded my heels for wellington boots and added a Barbour and been out in the countryside. Or alternatively, running in and out of shops on the Kings Road!!*

Super Stylish Sis works for Charles Tyrwhitt and recently went to one of their sample sales and managed to snag this shirt for me - no idea how much it was (it seemed rude to ask unless I was going to offer to pay for it!!!) but the website has some really bargainous offers in the sale.

Do you like the clutch? Do you?!! I am in love *swoon* I have been looking for a leather day-clutch for a while now and when I saw this in the Asos sale I know I just had to have it. Not only that but it's great for this summer's colour block trend too.

I am wearing: Charles Tyrwhitt shirt, H&M jeans, Blink heels (via Spartoo) and Asos clutch.

*Please note - this is not negative but just not my normal style!!

This shirt has been sitting in a bag in the bottom of my wardrobe for a few weeks now and today I decided it was definitely time to get it out.

BARGAIN OF THE DAY: St Tropez Wash Off Body Lotion

I absolutely swear by this fake tan for bright sunny mornings when I want to wear a skirt and have forgotten to fake tan the night before. I prefer to add a little to my normal moisturiser which stops it looking too unnatural and makes it easier to wash off my hands. Even better, St Tropez Wash Off Body Lotion is on offer on asos.com at the moment for only £6.36!!

Do you fake tan? Which brand do you use?

    What Was I Wearing: Audrey

I realised last night that I haven't done an outfit post for a long looooong time. So here you go. I was trying to rock a little of the Audrey Hepburn look. Did it work?

The boyf and I decided to make the most of the lovely sunny evening in Cardiff and have dinner at Chapter Arts - after a meeting with a mortgage advisor!! (Scary stuff!!)

I am wearing: Mango dress, New Look heels (ooooold!) and Ted Baker sunnies (a birthday present - more soon).

Thank You Handpicked Media and Asos and Nivea

When Asos and Nivea decided not to hold the usual London blogger event to launch their competition to celebrate the new Nivea Invisible deodorant and instead invited bloggers to hold their own event at home last night, with the help of a bottle of something lovely:

And some fabulously yummy brownies (with my own addition of some ice cream, naturally):

And, of course, it isn't a party without party rings, in my humble opinion:

Whilst Asos were kind enough to offer a gift voucher to add a little retail therapy to the evening:

Thank you Handpicked Media for organising the event and Asos and Nivea for providing the goodies that made the evening so fabulous! And a particularly big thank you for allowing those of us not always able to get to London easily to participate too.

WIN a collection of LBDs and LWDs courtesy of ASOS and Nivea!

To celebrate the launch of Nivea's newest and innovative deodorant, Invisible for Black and White, Nivea has teamed with Asos to create an exclusive capsule collection consisting of two LBDs and two LWDs:

Nivea's new deodorant is the first anti-perspirant from Nivea that protects both black and white clothes from those yucky deodorant stains that result in your summer tees ending up in the charity-shop bag and you changing your LBD for the third time before a night out!

To coincide with today's launch Asos have launched a competition to win one of the four dresses. All you have to do is play stylist and team the right dress with the right accessory for the occasion. Here's how I got on:

Now it's your turn to go play stylist and try for your chance to win one of these dresses! You have until 31 May to enter the competition and if you do enter, let me know, won't you?

*LBD = Little Black Dress and LWD = Little White Dress

    30 for 30 Challenge: Day 29

The penultimate outfit of the challenge. Can you believe that I have nearly completed it? Me neither!! I know it has taken me somewhat longer than most to do so, but I was determined to finish and finish, I will.

This outfit is a weekend one, hence the casual nature of it:

I have two of these tees from Asos as they are so comfortable and fall in just the right places. Whenever I find a piece I love like this now, I get two, as it doesn't happen too often.

I've been wearing my hair curly for the past few days and am liking it, what about you? I think these Dorothy Perkins' earrings blend in well with the curls:

And finally, these Marks and Spencer shoe boots are the real star of the challenge. They were included as they had survived the wardrobe detox earlier in the year but I hadn't really ever worn them. However, at £15 in the sale, they had been such a steal and were so beautiful, that I couldn't bear to just get rid of them without giving them a fair go. Well, turns out that despite the height they are surprisingly comfortable:

I am wearing: Topshop skinny jeans, Asos tee, Marks and Spencer shoe boots and Marks and Spencer cardigan.

    What do you think?

BARGAIN HUNTER: snag yourself a bargain courtesy of ASOS and Diet Coke

So, you all know that I love a good bargain. What you might not know is that I am that person who collects and cuts out all of the money-off vouchers on tins/packets from magazines and scours the pages of moneysavingexpert.com. Yep, the boyf often refuses to accompany me to the check out for this very reason. I am also the person for whom the words "sale" and "50% off" and "buy one get one free" make me smile and my heart miss a beat. Now that I have confessed all of this, I can tell you about a new feature and page on the blog that I plan to develop over the next month or so: a voucher/discount page.

Which leads me very nicely to an email I received to, telling me all about a rather fabulous collaboration to give you your fashion fix for cheap:

    30 for 30 challenge: Day 19

My 19th outfit in the 30 for 30 challenge: what do you think?

I am wearing: Marks and Spencer cardigan (gift), Asos dress (£19), gifted belt, MAWI for Asos ring (£14.50) and Marks and Spencer shoe-boots (£15).

I introduce to you, in today's outfit, my boot-iful shoe-boots:

They were a complete bargain and despite being pretty high, they are surprisingly comfortable. My new favourite shoes. Although they have been sitting on my shoe rack for almost 6 months without being worn! Oh well, better late than never.

What do you think of the boots? And the whole outfit?

    30 for 30 challenge: Day 18

I think I've reached a kind of "wall" in the challenge. I don't feel very inspired right now. So apologies for the uninspired outfit that I bring you today:

I originally began like this this morning. But when I headed home at lunchtime, the sun had come out and I realised that what I really needed was a bit of colour... So, I added some:

    And then a bit more!!

    Until it looked like this:

I am wearing: Dorothy Perkins maxi skirt (£10), Gap tee (£9.99), Marks and Spencer cardigan (gift), Oasis boots (£20), Asos belt (£3), H&M scarf (£2.99) and my fabulous new MAWI for ASOS ring (£14.50):

What do you think of my brightened up look?

    MAWI for ASOS

Yesterday morning I found myself reading a post over at The Taxonomy of My Wardrobe about the jewellery brand MAWI at London Fashion Week. I have always loved the brand's designs whenever I have spotted them but they are a little out of my price range. But Veshoevius pointed out that MAWI have in fact collaborated with ASOS for a more affordable collection - a collection made even more affordable by the fact that it is currently on sale.

So I took advantage of 50% and FREE next day delivery:

This is the ring that I purchased:

What do you think? I personally LOVE it! It is my new favourite cocktail ring bling.

    30 for 30 Challenge: Day 17

Sorry for the slight pause in proceedings on the 30 for 30 challenge. I am still on - don't worry, I haven't given up again!

This is today's outfit. You will have noticed, I love this dress. I am also starting to love the waist belt. I usually dress this dress down but today decided to add the Next heels for a bit of work chic:

I am wearing: Asos dress (£19), Marks and Spencer belt (£2) and Next heels (£30).

What do you think of this look?
