What is your top style tip Politcal Style?

This week I asked Laura of Politcal Style for her top style tip:

"I always make sure I wear some sort of jewellery - whether it is a nice pair of earrings, my signet ring or a funky necklace. Jewellery is highly personal, and can brighten even the dullest of days!

Invest in fabulous shoes- flats, wedges, or stilettos and make sure you take care of them, by stuffing them with tissue paper or shoe trees to maintain their shape. Create a capsule wardrobe, filled with tailored trousers, chic skirts and crisp white shirts. These are the base for a simple yet amazing outfit, which can be made into its own by accessories of your choice.

And finally, an age old tip! Take your make-up off every night and make sure you cleanse tone and moisturise! Your skin will thank you for it!"

TV dinner gone posh!

Stuffed peppers and Philadelphia salmon

This is a just little something I rustled together tonight for my mum and me that I thought you might like to partake in!

1. Lightly oil a baking tray. Cut the tops off the peppers and rub a little oil into the skins. Place  the salmon fillets and peppers on the tray. Spread a layer of Philadelphia over the fillets.

2. Melt some butter in a pan.

3. Halve or quarter a handful of tomatoes and finely chop a clove of garlic. Add to a bowl.

4. Add finely chopped spring onions to the melted butter.

5. Crumble feta cheese into the bowl of tomatoes and garlic.

6. Add bread crumbs to the butter and spring onions and stir so that they are all coated.

7. Add a splash of balsamic vinegar and olive oil to the tomatoes, garlic and feta cheese and stir.

8. Stuff the tomato-garlic-feta-balsamic-vinegar-olive-oil mixture into the peppers.

10. Top the salmon fillets and stuffed peppers with the bread crumb mixture. And place in the oven.

11. For 25 minutes.

12. At 190C.

13. Serve with steamed new potatoes. And enjoy!!

I realise that this recipe is a little haphazard but this is how I tend to cook: a little all over the place!!

Chelsea Girl

My mother is a terrible influence. I spent the afternoon shopping with her and boy, did we shop!

Went to the River Island event. Not much really to report. Took a few photos until I was told to stop by the sales assistant!! We didn't get there till pretty late and they were packing away the make-over part but a few people were having their nails done:

I tried on these beautiful sandals but they were a little pricey and I was a little worried that they might lose a feather or two over time and I get funny about things like that!!

I did buy a different pair of sandals instead and a dress! But you will have to wait to see them. In the meantime, here are a couple of photos I managed to take of some rather pretty things they have in River Island at the moment:

Hope you all have a lovely Friday night and bank holiday weekend.

Who is your style icon Leia of HiFashion?

This week I asked Leia of HiFashion, who is your favourite style icon and why? (You might remember that her blogger-in-crime, Sherin, shared her style icon with us here.)

"Is it alright for me to say I have two style icons? My first would be Queen Rania of Jordan. I think she is always so elegant, conservative but not frumpy, and so beautiful. Also, I know she's a fictional character, but I do love Blair Waldorf's style. It's the perfect mix of preppy and pretty - I wish I could have access to her entire wardrobe!"

This post is a part of a series of posts in which I have asked some of my favourite fashion bloggers who their style icon or icons are. If you've missed the other posts in this series, you can find them here.

Style Icon: Agyness Deyn

At just 16, Agyness Deyn was named the Rossendale Free Press "Face of '99".

She found fame modelling in 2007 when she appeared on the cover of American Vogue magazine alongside other models, including Lily Donaldson, described as the new crop of supermodels.

Aggy - as she is known to friends - has an eclectic style. Her off duty wear tends to be rocky with a British edge.

If you have missed the previous style icons featured on the blog, check them out here.

Tell me, who is your style icon?

How to... wear harem pants

They were a Tuesday's Tricky Trend a while back and the consensus among most of the people who left comments on my outfit post from Sunday seemed to agree that it is difficult to know how to style harem pants, I thought I would put together some dos and don'ts and some good and bad outfit photos:

♥ First, do not put a baggy top with a pair of baggy harems (top left). It makes you look much bigger than you are. Not a good look.

♥ I am wearing: River Island top, H&M harems, Asos pendant and Primark sandals. ♥

Do team harems with a slim-line tight top that will balance out the proportions, like my Sunday outfit or the one top right.

♥ I am wearing: Dorothy Perkins boob tube, H&M harems, Office slippers and Topshop accessories. ♥

Do wear heels with your harems. As with the outfit above, they will help to balance out the proportions (bottom left).

♥ I am wearing: Topshop tee, H&M harem pants and New Look heels. ♥

♥ Finally, why not try to channel the "Sports Lux" trend? (bottom right)

♥ I am wearing: H&M harems, a Reebok training top and Primark sandals.♥

Which outfit do you think works? Have you tried the harem trend?

Street Style Stalker: Paris #1

I’m still not very good at this whole taking photos of random strangers and definitely not at asking them – particularly in French! So there are a few photos – of which this is the first – that will be appearing on here that I sneakily took whilst in Paris:

I loved the navy blue coat. It looked so smart. She looked so thrown-together-chic. The headphones made the outfit look more cool than too put together. She was also wearing a striped Breton tee. I must get one.

Topshop Factor

You remember I blogged about the new collection of Topshop make-up? Well, last week I took advantage of their free delivery promotion and decided to try out two of their nail polishes. Because a girl can never have enough nail polishes, right? I got one in the limited edition Sunset (left) and another in Cloud (right). I have tried both colours and love them! The fabulous Cloud colour is very on trend. My toe nails are currently sporting the sparkly Sunset shade. It is lovely and light for summer. I'd definitely recommend two coats of both.

At £5 each, Topshop's nail polishes are a real steal when compared to my addiction to Chanel.

When I wrote about the collection before, I told you I had bought the skin glow. Here it is:

This has become my most favourite product in my make-up bag. I love the healthy glow it gives me when my skin is looking a little tired in the morning. A must for any make-up bag! And at £10, it is considerably cheaper than MAC's Strobe Cream and does exactly the same job and in prettier packaging. What more could you want?

Anyone been out to try the make-up since I last posted about it?

Every girl needs her little piece of luxury

For me, my little piece of luxury is a Chanel nail polish.

These are my two new Chanel nail polishes. Nouvelle Vague - the limited edition spring/summer 2010 shade is a beautiful pearly pale blue colour. Particulière - last autumn's catwalk shade which is a delicious caffé latte colour.

♥ For anyone who is interested I am currently lusting after Chanel's Dragon shade - a lovely deep red colour. Mmmm. ♥

What is your little piece of luxury?

Update: just painted my nails with Particulière. Two coats were necessary but it looks great and will go with almost any outfit/colour combo.

M. C. Hammer pants: hit or miss?

Since having written this post last month I have been on the lookout for a pair of jersey harem pants as a summer alternative to my wardrobe staple leggings. Yesterday - amongst other things - I found the perfect (cheap) pair in H&M. I admit, I'm still not sure how to style them without looking like I am enormous but I had a go this evening:

♥ I am wearing: Marks & Spencer sunglasses, Dorothy Perkins boob tube, Dorothy Perkins earrings, H&M harem pants, H&M ring (another purchase from yesterday) and Office shoes

What do you think, did I pull it off?

I do hope you've all enjoyed the sun this weekend. I have. Summer is here. At last. For a bit.

More soon. Love, SG

What is your top style tip Miss Fashion Whore?

This week I asked Alice of Miss Fashion Whore and Shop Pulse to share her top style tip with you lovely readers:

"My top style tip is to invest in killer accessories and then mix them up with inexpensive basics. I love Mulberry for bags which transcend every season. I also love ebay for snapping up sold-out and vintage items for dirt cheap prices."

Shoe search: the perfect ballet pump

I am a serious flats girl. Ok, so there are times when I stray a little from the comfortable path trodden in flat shoes but I am quick to realise my mistake and return to the familiar.

But even flatties aren't always comfortable. I have had pairs that have rubbed my heels bare and taken the skin off my little toes. But then there is always that one pair that fits perfectly and that you live in until they are completely worn out because you can't imagine anything else feeling quite like it ever again.

I tend to dress quite demurely - in my collection of LBDs - and so often find myself drawn to brighter shoes.

I have just discovered Spartoo's online store and have fallen in love with the Bloch pumps:

Aren't the purple ones fabulous?! Just not in my size at the moment. Sad.

I do also love a pair of sensible Audrey Hepburn-esque black pumps and currently have a pair that have been worn almost to their death which I desperately need to replace. So I decided to check out Spartoo's collection:

I think these might be just perfect. And they are a steal at £38.

The brilliant thing about the Spartoo website is that delivery is free! I always hate it when delivery charges are added on and what looked like a bargain is suddenly transformed into a bit of a splurge!

What do you spy that you would treat yourself to?

Who is your style icon Glamorous Grad Student?

This week I asked The Glamorous Grad Student, who is your favourite style icon and why? Here is her answer:

"Hmmm, it's tricky because I don't have a particular style icon, but a mishmash of inspirations. I like looking at street style blogs from my favourite city, Paris. I take cues mainly from Marilyn Munroe, Blair Waldorf of Gossip Girl and Charlotte York-Goldenblatt of Sex and the City as they are closest to representing the kind of style I personally like."
