Friend Friday #50: Fall trends

As with previous trends, this week's Friend Friday is looking to next season. Here are my five favourite fall trends:

Autumn 2011 Trend #1: faux fur

I love a bit of faux fur come autumn (see here, here and here) and I was so pleased to see so much of it on the catwalks for 2011. Wear it short for evening and team with a floor length dress, as at Michael Kors, or wear it big and belted for a glamorous vintage look, as at Marc by Marc Jacobs.

Autumn 2011 Trend #2: button-up shirts
I've picked up a few button-up shorts in the past few months (see here) and I am loving that they will be bang on trend when I button them up next season. I even picked up a sheer shirt a couple of months ago - I'm not so sure that I'll ever dare to bare all, as on the catwalk ar Paul Smith. Wear your shirts with trousers, as at Paul Smith, or with a skirt, as at Acne and Topshop Unique - particular this season's knee-length pencil skirt (see below).

Autumn 2011 Trend #3: jewel tones (think purples, oranges and forest greens)

I've said it before, my normal autumn wardrobe is all black, with a little grey and navy thrown in for good measure maybe. But this autumn I vow to add a little colour to my wardrobe to brighten up the dismal and dreary days. A little deep purple, like the gorgeous dresses at Yves Saint Laurent and Alberta Ferretti, some foreat green and maybe, just maybe, some orange too.

Autumn Trend #4: knee-length skirts

The older I get and the more formal the work place, so a longer skirt length appeals. Of course, on my summer holidays with tanned legs, I love to rock a mini but back in the boardroom this season's knee-length skirts are definitely more appropriate. The pencil skirts that in past seasons have been pushed to the back of my wardrobe and forgotten, will be brought and worn with pride this autumn.

Autumn Trend #5: prints

I usually go all demure and monochrome come winter but I'm loving the star prints at Dolce & Gabbana for Autumn Winter 2011 - perfect for Christmas parties later in the year too!

What trends are you looking forward to rocking for Autumn?
