This week: Lovely Links

I know many bloggers already do a round-up of their favourite blog posts of the week but I find myself reading so many fabulous and inspiring posts from some of my favourite bloggers across the blog-o-sphere each week that I feel the need to add to these posts.

This week, I've been addicted to:

Clockwise from top left: How to: Braided Bun; IFB: The Reality of Blogging While Working a Full-Time Job; The French Women Beauty Myth, or Happy Bastille Day; For the love of: The anklet; What Carrie Bradsahw Taught Me About Aging & Getting Old (recommended by Mrs B); and Blogger Style Icon: B Jones Style.

If you have a favourite post from the blog-o-sphere that you've read this week, let me know in the comments here and it might get added to next week's Lovely Links. And if you happen upon a post you think simply must be featured over the next week, be sure to tweet me the link.

Have a happy Sunday.

This Week: in Cardiff

It takes quite a lot to drag me from home in the evening after a day at work and when it is freezing cold outside. There is nothing I prefer more than getting home, changing into a pair of leggings and a slouchy tee, turning the television on and not moving until bedtime. But this week I have not one but two reasons to leave the house. It is The Cardiff Design Festival this week: An annual celebration of Design and provides a showcase of Design talent in Wales.

I didn't know what to expect from the events being held around the city but two immediately caught my eye:

The Trends, Forecasting and Promotion seminar tomorrow evening:

Futures in fashion principles, trends and forecasting are often copied, and developed by PR agencies and Publishers, enabling them to strengthen their ability to connect to and target their audience and consumers.

Trends and forecasting also play a crucial role in the promotion of venues, events, and brands.

The seminar will showcase themes by exhibition , on trends in fashion promotion, retail and fashion in general and is supported with a keynote question and answer session from Pure London/WGSN1.

And Oxfam Boutique’s 1st Birthday on Thursday evening:

We are celebrating by throwing a fabulous party with cocktails, nibbles, DJ’s and a Reinvented Catwalk show from the fashion students of Newport University. The catwalk will showcase these 1st year students’ original designs that have been created using donated clothes and fabrics.

For your chance to get your hands on these one off outfits stick around after the show as the pieces will be on display and for sale in the shop.

I am hoping to make it along to at least one of these events and, of course, will report back if I do. If you are in the area, why not head along yourself?

*If anyone knows of any other events in the Cardiff and South West/South Wales area, please contact me with details, I am always happy to come along or feature them here.
