Style Icons at Fashion Week

The weekly Style Icon series has been running for nearly 10 months now. As I was looking through the photos from the Front Row of the Fashion Weeks that have just come to an end, I thought it might be time to recap some of those who have been featured and who made their mark on the Front Row in New York, London, Milan and Paris:

First, Sienna Miller, who was not only making an appearance on the Front Row but also on the catwalk with her collection with sister Savannah, Twenty8Twelve:

Kate Moss has been a regular on the Front Rows since the 1990s and she continues to put her fashion foot forward:

Alexa Chung retains that quintessential English style that she has perfected, even when on the Front Row in another city:

Next up, Olivia Palermo was making waves here, at London Fashion Week and across the pond on the Front Row in New York:

Kiera Knightley, the face of Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle, made an appearance for the brand's show in Paris:

And finally, last week's Style Icon Clémence Poésy, here at the Chanel show in Paris:

If you have missed the Style Icons featured on the blog, check them out here.

Tell me, who is your style icon?

I am also looking for bloggers who would like to write a guest post for this series, about their Style Icon, please get in touch if you would like to get involved.

PFW: JOHN GALLIANO Spring/Summer 2011

With a venue like the grand Opéra Comique, the stage was set in Paris last night for a theatrical performance from John Galliano's catwalk show for Spring/Summer and the collection did not disappoint:

According to Style.com, "For Spring, [John Galliano's muse] was the fictitious-sounding but real Maria Lani. Passing herself off as an actress, she conned the crème de la crème of the twenties Paris art scene (Matisse, Léger, di Chirico, Chagall, etc.) into painting her portrait and then absconded with some 50 works."

Each of the looks for the collection was intended to be a difference "face" or "portrait" of Maria Lani, from leather and lace for day-wear to sumptuous and theatrical Poiret-esque ballgowns:

The twenties theme was continued throughout, with empire lines to drop-waists and parasols:

All of this twenties inspiration is making me want to host a themed cocktail party and dress à la Galliano. I'm even coveting the hair on these models:

The show moved from muted palettes onto an explosion of colour and back to the muted palette of the start:

Pretty butterflies provided the adornment of the dresses that walked down the catwalk:

John Galliano appeared at the end of the show through a shower of gold confetti:

Magnificent.

What do you think of this collection? High fashion or high drama?

PFW: ISABEL MARANT Spring/Summer 2011

After Lanvin, Isabel Marant is probably one of my other favourite and her collection for Spring/Summer 2011 didn't disappoint.

The show began with a sporty look in muted creams and pinks, accented with a little black:

The colour-theme continued with pink and purple florals, with a Western element added with a the slouchy boots:

Slouchy jumpers were also in evidence. A particular favourite of mine through autumn, winter and into spring. I am looking forward to throwing on some cable knits very soon:

Ruffles added a feminine touch to the catwalk, with a splash of royal blue in an otherwise rather muted palette:

Stripes never seem to go out of fashion:

The rock 'n' roll look is always my favourite:

What do you think of this collection?

Paris Fashion Week: LANVIN Spring/Summer 2011

Alber Elbaz's collection for Lanvin has been the talk of Paris Fashion Week, so I was intrigued to see what all of the fuss was about. I was also intrigued as to whether this collection might give us any clues to what to expect from the forthcoming Lanvin collaboration with H&M next month.

The collection started by taking this season's colour - camel - and updating it for Spring/Summer 2011:

With long flowing skirts and cinched waists, the silhouette is one that we have seen season after season and seems unlikely to disappear from the catwalks anytime soon. But that is not to say that there is any less of an appetite for it, indeed it is a silhouette that remains current and fashionable and one that we will undoubtedly continue to wear long after it does leave the catwalks.

Tube maxis were also in evidence. I am thinking that the luxurious dusky blue one-shoulder tube dress would be just as right for the coming festive party season as for next season:

Dangerously low-cut necklines were popular too:

The shape might say work-wear but the neckline says sexy evening-wear.

The two looks below are certainly suitable for a glamorous black-tie event:

The jumpsuit on the right, above, is actually making me think about trying one - for the first time ever. It looks so relaxed and yet, elegant too.

A series of red dresses added a splash of colour to the catwalk at Lanvin:

This flowing and asymmetrical silk shirt dress is relaxed and easy-to-wear:

These stunning print looks ended the show:

What do you think of the Lanvin collection for Spring/Summer 2011? Which was your favourite collection from Paris Fashion Week?
